Q.  Staying at Trevin Farms sounds great but I worry about the smell from the animals.  Does it smell?
A.  No. At Trevin Farms, we believe that cleanliness is next to healthiness.  We keep our farm clean to keep our animals healthy.  Manure is the main cause of farm odor and it is unhealthy for animals and our guests. We dispose of our manure using compost methods that keep our farm clean and free of any odor.

Q.  Are there attractions in the area during all times of the year to keep us busy if we choose?
A.  Yes. We are located in the central section of Vermont.  Trevin Farms is located near several attractions that happen throughout the year.  From sugaring in the spring, lakes in the summer, foliage in the fall and skiing in the winter, we are within 1 hour of most of Vermont’s best attractions.

Q.  Does taking the cheese making take all of my time when I come to stay?
A.  No. Cheese making classes are very educational and informative.  We understand that there are attractions that our guests want to take some time to visit when coming to Trevin Farms and Vermont.  In fact, we encourage our guests to visit Vermont.  We keep our classes packed full of information but still leave plenty of time to visit around the state.

Q. I like the outdoors, are there outdoor activities to do off the farm in the area?
A.  Yes. We are in the heart of Vermont and have available to our guests hiking along the Long Trail, some of the best biking in the state of Vermont and lakes for canoeing or kayaking.

Q.  Is Trevin Farms and Organic Farm?
A.  This is a technical question.  The short answer is No.  We do not use chemicals or pesticides on our fields or gardens.  Our chickens are free range and are allowed to forage throughout the property.  As for the goats, they like to find their food in the woods, the horses like their grass free from chemicals.  Our grain is NOT organic which is an integral part of organic farming.  We never use hormones or antibiotics (unless the health of the animal requires intervention) to aid in the production of our products.  We believe that nature provides the best product.

Q.  How does “pick your own vegetables” work?
A.  Throughout the summer, we maintain a sizable vegetable garden with a large variety of fertilizer and pesticide free vegetables.  We choose what we will grow in the spring and harvest our vegetables throughout the summer and fall.

Q.  Are the goats friendly?
A.  Yes, our goats are very friendly.  We take our time dispelling the myths about goats and giving you the facts about goats.  Did you know that goats really do not eat tin cans?  There are several myths about goats that have been taught as truth.  In fact, goats are very picky eaters.  Our goats have been raised by us to be friendly and they are loving also.  We take our time teaching our guests how to milk the goats and everyone who chooses to take part in the milking, leave here knowing how to milk.  Visiting the barn and meeting the goats and other animals is all part of the experience here at Trevin Farms.

Q.  What are the differences between staying at Trevin Farms and staying at a Bed and Breakfast?
A.  At Trevin Farms, we have combined the comfort of a Bed and Breakfast with the educational experience of a farm stay.  Our rooms are spacious, comfortable and relaxing.  We are here to answer your questions, lead a tour of the farm, give directions to the many attractions in Vermont and, of course, talk about the animals.  We will assist in the milking of the goats, show you how to “hitch-up” Tyrone and drive him, show you how to gather eggs from the chickens and educate our guests about life on a farm.
Q.  Why Trevin Farms over another Bed and Breakfast or Farm Stay?
A.  We believe that we are unique because of the combination of the Bed and Breakfast and educational experience of a Farm Stay.  We are one of very few in Vermont who offer cheese making at the place that you stay.  At most farm stays you can learn about the animals and join in on the chores or you can visit a cheese-making establishment, we have combined the two together.  From our carriage rides, cheese making, sugaring (making syrup) and egg gathering, we offer many things to do for you and your family.
Q.  Are there Art Galleries in the area?
A.  Yes.  We are 7 minutes to some of the best art galleries in Vermont.  Brandon Artist Guild is a compilation of some of the local artists in town. Liza Myers Gallery and Warren Kimble are two of our most famous artists.

Q.  In addition to having families stay at Trevin Farms, do you have Romantic Weekend Packages for two?
A.  Yes.  We come from a customer service background and are both chefs.  We have created a beautiful Romantic Weekend Package for our guests.  Roses, champagne, intimate dinner for two and a carriage ride are some of specialties of the farm.  In addition, we have had many guests propose marriage at our farm or on a carriage ride and have had several weddings that have been performed at our farm.  Kevin is currently Justice of the Peace in the state of Vermont and can perform marriages and civil unions.
